Land-Ocean-Atmosphere interaction

A short Bio

Ilham Bouimetarhan is a marine geoscientist working on past climate changes and their effect on marine and terrestrial ecosystems. The focus of her research is understanding climate and hydrological changes in tropical and subtropical regions through high-resolution palynological, geochemical and isotopic analysis and their comparison with climate models.

she is interested in the response of regional vegetation to climate change in Africa, South America and South Asia and its impact on the global climate as well as changes in oceanographic conditions offshore those areas. She is thus focusing on a long-term interaction between ecological, hydrological and oceanic processes under changing climates.

Internationally, she is currently a member of the PAGES (Past Global Changes) Scientific steering committee.
